Super Science Show

Science for Grades 3 - 5

This piece of software is a top seller

Friendly Bob Treebark hosts The Super Science Show where one or two contestants have fun with third, fourth, and fifth grade science. Players can play against friends or challenge a variety of computer contestants. Both knowledge and logic are exercised.

Bob runs a well organized show. His simple directions make it easy for students to play. Bob's humorous comments and mannerisms help to establish a game show atmosphere in which excitement and friendly competition prevail.

Bob asks 300, 400, and 500 point questions which correspond generally to third, fourth, and fifth grade science knowledge. Though an occasional question is of the trivia type, most questions pertain directly to fundamentals of the science curriculum. The following nine topics are game categories: Plants, Animals, The Human Body, Health, Weather, The Earth, Matter, Energy, The Universe.

Bob appears for each game dressed in a different snazzy suit from his sizeable theatrical wardrobe. Students may choose either TIC-FACT-TOE or the more complex SUPER TIC-FACT-TOE.

To win TIC-FACT-TOE, a player must answer questions correctly to score three marks in a row in any one science category. If neither player is able to win in this way, the player with the highest point total wins.

In SUPER-TIC-FACT-TOE the object is to win three categories in a row on the main board. Though the directions are simple and anyone can play, winning strategy for experienced players can be quite complex.

Super Science Show is intended to provide review of the basic elementary science curriculum. It rewards children for facts and concepts they remember. It sometimes challenges students to apply their understanding of basic concepts to a given situation. Bob Treebark is a helpful guy, always taking time to provide correct answers when students are wrong. Contestants who pay close attention will be better players the next time around.

Players who beat the upper level computer contestants (that are in the game for use if no real classmates are available to play) should be deservedly proud of both their science knowledge and their skill at game strategy.
